Bone Marrow Biopsy

A bone marrow biopsy is an outpatient surgical procedure in which a 6mm in diameter core sample is extracted typically from the pelvic bone .When coupled with a labeling agent such as tetracycline, a bone biopsy is the gold standard in diagnosing metabolic bone diseases especially the most common type -osteoporosis. Dr. Vaziri has performed hundreds of these procedures and is one of the few orthopedic surgeons in the country performing this procedure upon requests from endocrinologists and primary care physicians.
